October 6 is declared by PNoy as a regular holiday in observance of Eid al-Adha after Proclamation 875 was signed on September 12 declaring the national holiday.  Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, symbolizes the willingness of Abraham to obey God by sacrificing his son Ishmael. It is celebrated by Muslims  around the world, which starts after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The Eid al-Adha is approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan.
